Special Operations Division

Capt. Roger Hayes
Special Opns Commander

Captain Roger L. Hayes is the Commander of the Centerville Police Department’s Special Operations Division. Captain Hayes has over 23 years of law enforcement experience.  He is a certified hostage negotiator, currently serving in that capacity with the Houston County Sheriff’s Response Team (SRT), and is the Safety Officer for the City of Centerville.  Captain Hayes is also the Coordinator of the Middle Georgia Traffic Enforcement Network (MGTEN).

The Centerville Police Department is the lead agency for the Middle Georgia Traffic Enforcement Network. The MGTEN is comprised of law enforcement agencies from 10 counties and makes up an integral part of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety's law enforcement structure. The mission of the MGTEN is to educate the public on traffic safety issues through publications, awareness, and enforcement.  Our motto is “We Hunt at Night.”  More information on GOHS and traffic enforcement networks can be found by clicking on the GOHS seal (below).

Members of the Special Operations Division assist the Centerville Police Department and all other local police agencies through mutual assistance agreements in dealing with all or any of the following special law enforcement situations:

You may frequently find our Special Operations officers at Operation Zero Tolerance and Click-It-or-Ticket safety checks. They will be working with other officers and agencies to keep your roadways safe by detecting and detaining impaired drivers, as well as looking for other violations of state law.
